What is Spikko?
Spikko provides its members free internet-based telephone services. Users receive a personal Israeli (cellular) phone number through which they may contact any telephone or cellular number in the world for free, without any strings attached.
From the minute you register, you will get an Israeli telephone number of your own. Connecting is easy, simply register to get a number, download the internet telephone program (Spikkophone) and install it.
Once you have registered, anyone who wishes to contact you can dial your new number from any telephone or cellular phone. Your spikko phone will ring you anywhere in the world, provided that you are connected to the internet. If you are not connected to
the internet, your contact can leave voice mail. The voice mail will be forwarded to your email address, or you can listen to it from Spikko's website.

How is Spikko different? And how is it different from Skype?
Skype is a low cost phone service, whereas Spikko is a totally free service in which you can make outgoing calls to any telephone or cell phone, at no cost, according to the number of minutes you have accumulated (as opposed to Skype which requires payment).
Similarly to Skype, Spikko provides free phone calls between Spikko members.
Unlike Skype, you receive your own number, which enables anyone to contact you from anywhere without any cost to you.
In addition, Spikko members get a free voice mailbox, enabling others to leave voice messages when you are not on-line.
Voice mail is a pay service in Skype. Spikko users can also send free "call me" SMSs, letting others know that you are online. This service is not available on Skype.

Who is Spikko for?
Spikko is for anyone who wants to stop paying for telephone service.
The service is great for people who spend a lot of time overseas;
as long as they are on-line, they can be contacted from home at the cost of a local call.
Spikko is also great for teenagers who have no way of paying for a private phone service.
Likewise it is great for small or home business users who don't want to pay for phone service.

How much does it cost?
Spikko users pay nothing. At no time will they be asked for payment.
Any outgoing or incoming call, through Spikkophone, costs nothing to the user, as do all current and future services.
How much does a call to Spikko cost?
A call to Spikko costs the same as a call to a cellular phone. There is no difference in price if someone calls your cell phone or Spikkophone.

So where's the catch?
Surprisingly, there's no catch, and there's no "fine print". Spikko is a service that enables its users to call any place and any number at no cost (according to the number of minutes collected).

How do I collect minutes?
According to an article on Ynet by Gal Mor:
"Upon signing up to the service, each member gets half a minute of cellular phone time or 2 minutes of telephone time for free. In the near future, according to company representatives, new members will get 15 minutes of cellular phone time and one hour of
telephone time for free.
So what happens after the call time is used up? Here's where the community comes into play. To acumulate more points, others must call your Spikko phone number. Every incoming one minute call increases your credit by half a minute.
If your friends don't call, you can still send SMSs at no charge. Members can send up to 30 SMSs a day with the message "Please call my Spikkophone." In the future, members will be able to customize their SMS.

Privacy & Security
Spikko provides the highest level of privacy and security to its members. To become a member you only need to enter a User Name and your e-mail address. Your email address is secure in Spikko’s data-base. Spikko does not give the information to any third
party.
To use the service, users download and install the Spikko program. SpikkoPhone is used to manage calls to friends. No add-on programs are attached. SpikkoPhone does only what is needed to manage your calls and nothing else.
Spikko’s web site is secure for your use. You can use your personal home page to manage all your communications in complete privacy. Occasionally, and with your permision, we will update your program at no cost.
